Lovejoy Independent School District Raises Money To Pay For Beloved Custodian’s Back Surgery

Students, teachers, and parents in Collin County, Texas have made one school custodian a very happy man after they decided to come together to help him out during a trying time. Lee Hamilton, known as Mr. Lee to students of Puster Elementary School, is sharing his deepest thanks to individuals in the community after they decided to come together and raise money to fund a necessary back surgery.

Mr. Lee, who has been with the school since the day it opened, is known in the Lovejoy Independent School District as a “hard worker” and a “positive influence” on the students. He always has a smile on his face and he is always happy to see students and staff. However, Mr. Lee found out he would need extensive back surgery in order to avoid spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair—which, would prevent him from working altogether.

The local community and the school district decided to create a GoFundMe page to help Mr. Lee pay for the surgery. In just 12 days, the community raised $25,000—$6,000 more than they originally set out to earn.
