Law enforcement officials say that DNA evidence played a part in Sayoc’s arrest. He was arrested at an auto repair shop in Plantation, FL. Miami Herald news partner CBS4 reports that a “loud explosion” was heard at the time of the arrest, which happened at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
A white van belonging to Sayoc was covered with pictures of Trump and the presidential seal. It has been seized by officials and taken to a secure facility.

According to records, Sayoc is a registered Republican.
The only person who fits that description — Cesar Sayoc, 56, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida — is a registered Republican who last voted in the 2016 election, according to Nexis. https://t.co/D6zFjpsfZj

The president has now been briefed by Chief of Staff Kelly, US Secret Service, FBI and DHS. AG Jeff Sessions is currently at the White House, as well.
