Newspaper Scorches Donald Trump’s Government Shutdown With Grinch Cover

President Donald Trump may be from New York, but he’s not getting a whole lot of love from New York’s Daily News.

In honor of Trump’s stupid government shutdown (the one he said he wouldn’t blame on Democrats, but he’s now blaming on Democrats), the newspaper put Trump on its Saturday cover, made to look like Dr. Suess’s Grinch.

At the bottom of the picture, the headline reads, “How The Trump Stole Christmas.”

It’s definitely weird to see him any color other than orange, but otherwise, he makes a very convincing Grinch.

In a tweet announcing the cover, the Daily News used lines from the book The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, writing,

“It could be his head wasn’t screwed on just right. It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight. But we think that the most likely reason of all may have been that his heart was two sizes too small.”

The government shutdown began late Friday after Trump refused to a sign a spending bill because it didn’t include the money for his precious border wall.

In the cover story, the paper referred to the shutdown as “a Christmas tragedy” that “complicates the lives” of federal workers over the holidays.

This is certainly not the first time the News has run covers portraying Trump negatively.

But back to the Grinch. People on Twitter loved the cover, because wow, when you think about it, Trump really is the Grinch. He’s just not as smart or funny.

The one main difference, as far as I can tell, between The Grinch and The Trump is that The Grinch actually had a heart and could be turned into a nice, um, whatever he is. Grinch, I guess. But The Trump? Nah, probably not much of a chance.
